How many times have you seen a company in the ink industry gets recognized for the things they have accomplished? Usually, though, companies do not go after awards or certificates of achievement. They build the best products so they can get the biggest share of the market. Unfortunately, it does not usually work that way. When people buy inkjet or toner printers, their biggest concern is the price. So, blinded by the glitter of a low price tag, they wind up with a Lexmark. Once the cartridges run out, you have to pay a fortune to refill. If you are smart, you will invest in a pricier printer and just use generic ink. That ensures that you keep the cost per page to a bare minimum. Forget all this, though. I am here to point out that the tide is changing, that people are actually starting to recognize companies for their accomplishments. The PC Pro Excellence Awards have actually acknowledged Brother as a leading manufacturer of highly efficient printing technologies. Finally! They have only been the best since the turn of the century. Are people finally starting to realize that there is more to value than a low price tag? I am not even sure if there is even an answer to that question.

So, what awards did Brother take home? They were honored as being the leading manufacturer for speedy, reliable, and affordable printing technologies. Is it any surprise? They have been delivering top quality products since they were founded. When you want quality, you go to Brother. The company also produces sewing machines, label printers, typewriters, machine tools, and fax machines. Despite all this, most people know Brother as that company that makes those 5-in-1 office printers. I guess you can never escape the fame of a great product. It is not just their discount printer ink cartridge that is best in class, so why are not they being recognized for their typewriters or their sewing machines? I do not think it is fair to them.

Really, no other company deserved this award. Brother has always done its best to create the best products. The others, well, have not. After years of struggling to compete with other brand ink companies, Brother appears to be pushing for a bigger piece of the pie. And, people are responding by buying their cartridges in record quantities. The biggest proof of this is the fact that they are bringing in a record 8.5 million Euros in profits every year on their ink cartridges. With those kinds of profits, it almost seems like generic discount printer ink cartridge is not as big of a threat to brand name companies as everyone thinks they are. It makes sense that generic cartridges would become more popular as the economy continues to remain sluggish. The truth is that these cartridges are just as good as brand name cartridges at less than half the cost.

Brother seems to be doing great these days. Perhaps their newfound success has something to do with the fact that they recently took on two highly successful sales professionals who were previously employed by Lexmark and Dell. Then again, it might be the result of a new way of thinking. It could just be that Brother Printers are more efficient. People are realizing that they could pay a little more up-front to get an efficient printer and then, to increase their savings, buy generic discount printer ink cartridge whenever they need a replacement cartridge.
