We have talked about the law of attraction over and over - but do we always recognize when we receive what we really ask for? Here is a member submission of a law of attraction story!
Sitting back and reflecting on what I accomplished throughout 2006 is always a great exercise I enjoy doing. Business was steady in 2006, and for the first time, I felt like I was in control of my finances. But this story takes me to the last six months of 2006 that has real significance.
A business loan was paid off earlier than expected, and what a nice feeling that was to accomplish. It wasn't until the last three months of 2006 that really made a difference when I put into practice 'asking the Universe for help.'
For the last year and half, I was storing some business items from my last office move. One big item was an industrial embroidery machine that wasn't being used. Several attempts were made to sell this machine throughout 2006, but to no avail. In early November, I had decided that the first thing I'd do in 2007 is just sell it through an auction house. Here's where intent and the Universe start to work.
In late November, I received a letter from the storage company, where the embroidery machine was stored. The storage company decided that a slight increase in rent was necessary. This slight increase would double my monthly cost to store the embroidery machine, and other boxes come 2007. I only had until the end of December to either pay a full years' amount at the old rate, or simply start paying the new rate in 2007.
Well, nothing like getting intent to work a little quicker than planned. As I think back though, I always wanted to be rid of this storage expense at the end of the year. It didn't take me long before I found an auction house. I called on a Tuesday in December, and they wanted it in their building on the Thursday. I wasn't prepared for that quick of a response and somewhat panicked, trying to get him to take it over the following week. I needed time to absorb this in my mind. However, I decided to go 'with it' and had it arranged for them to pick it up and delivered to the auction house.
In the mean time, I was relaying a very important message out to the Universe. I had my friends, family and colleagues do the same for me. I asked that I receive $3500 or better for the embroidery machine, and much luck to the person who would buy the machine. A week later it $1000. After moving expenses and auction commission was taken off, I didn't have much left. So I wondered what went wrong with what I asked? I thought with intention in place, and voicing my heartfelt message to the Universe, all would come out the way I expected?
I could have stewed over this for days with being embarrassed about what the outcome was, and wondering why the Universe didn't comply. Instead, I decided to figure out what I had to learn.
I've come to the conclusion that I was not supposed to receive $3500 or better of cold, hard cash in my hands (which would have been great); it was what I would be saving over a year period of monthly costs in storing this machine, and the other items. Not to mention the constant chatter in my head about what to do with this machine, and how to get rid of it.
By the middle of December, the machine was sold, the other items are sitting nicely in my basement at home, and I don't have to face a $4000+ yearly expense in storing an embroidery machine that wasn't being used. So there is the $3500 or better scenario I relayed.
My point to all this? Just because you call out to the Universe for what you think are specific questions to help you in your quest, whatever it may be, doesn't mean you are going to get it back exactly the way you planned. But if something like this does happen to you, stop and think about it for awhile. Find out why your end result was presented to you in the manner it came. There's always a reason for why events in our lives happen the way they do. We just have to stay open to all possibilities.
'One of the keys to effective communication and dispute resolution is understanding ourselves and how we think and also understanding how others are wired as well. Each of us has personality styles that are unique to ourselves - however there are also patterns as well. When you understand the differing personality styles and their blends - you begin to see people as they are with more understanding!
