Beautiful & Quality Threads for Machine Embroidery Designs

Well, we are moved into our new house. My husband went back to work this morning after having several days off to help out here. It's a bit of a relief, honestly, to have the house to myself so that I can get things unpacked. Unfortunately, my husband tends to unpack a single thing at a time, takes a walk down memory lane, and then gets sidetracked by something else. It's not a huge help.

As I sit and look around me, the kitchen is coming along nicely, but the living room is a giant mess. I need to set up the 'library' along one wall that is currently hidden by a wall of boxes. But, at the back of that stack lurks my embroidery machine. It will be my inspiration to clear that wall today. Then, tomorrow, I can play!

In the few days that we've been here, there have already been a number of sewing-inspired accidents. First, I spilled an entire package of pins on the living room floor. My husband is very good at finding the strays with his feet, so he beat a hasty retreat while I picked them up. Then, the movers broke the cart that houses my threads for machine embroidery, and one of the drawers ended up on the garage floor. Not a problem. No, the problem came later because my husband didn't know the cart was broken. He moved it and that same drawer fell out, this time spilling several dozen spools on the garage floor. He was not pleased.

The biggest problem is that I have such a large stash of embroidery supplies. It is amazing, and the movers were a bit shocked. But, I'm used to that. I'd say that fully 25% of our household goods include my sewing stash. This, of course, includes my two antique treadle machines, two other vintage machines and tables, and the five machines I use almost daily for my embroidery, sewing and quilting. Yes, this is a passion for me.

It's a good thing my library of machine embroidery designs is housed on my computer. I think that even my husband would be shocked by that! My favorite designs are those for free-standing lace, followed by traditional florals, and then anything 3D. He knows that I have collected many free embroidery designs, but he has no idea how much I have purchased at my favorite embroidery design gallery. He does enjoy the projects I create, though, so he has no reason to complain about any of it.

All in all, he's a good guy. He sees my fabric spilling out of boxes in the garage, gets out of the way when I spill pins and teases me, good naturedly, about my variety of thread. He helps when I'm working on tricky embroidery design patterns and remembers little technical things that I tend to forget. He comes from a household of stitchers, so I guess I should never be surprised by any of this.

Still, I wish he had done more in the living room yesterday so that I could play with my embroidery machine today instead of tomorrow!
